war and peace
November 21, 2008
I haven’t read anything in a really long time that has reached me as much as this did today. So, I thought I’d share.
war and peace
Charles Bukowski
to experience
real agony
is
something
hard
to write about,
impossible
to understand
while it
grips you;
you’re
frightened
out of
your
wits,
can’t sit
still,
move
or even
go
decently
insane.and then
when your
composure
finally
returns
and you are
able to
evaluate
the
experience
it’s almost as
if it
had happened
to
somebody
elsebecause
look at
you
now:calm
detachedsay
cleaning your
fingernailslooking through
a
drawer
for
stampsapplying
polish
to your
shoesor
paying the
electric
billlife is
and is not
a
gentle
bore.
